One of the questions we get asked a lot is, “What was it like to write a book with your spouse?” It always makes us chuckle a bit, because while we wrote this book that deals with admittedly controversial topics about men and women, about marriage, about the Bible and the authority of Scripture in our personal lives, yet one of the things that people are most interested in is the fact that we wrote it together. What was it like? Well, like all big-but-good undertakings in a marriage, it was super fun, incredibly rewarding, a bit emotionally exhausting, and not without its moments of tension! I feel so blessed to have had the chance to work on something like this with my husband. He is a great writer and teacher of God’s Word. It was a joy to experience this process together, even though it was challenging. (Kind of like parenting, but on a less-significant scale!)
It all started with a Bible study on the topic that we wrote and taught together at our church. We realized that our study would work well in a book format, and then after a few conversations with the folks at Concordia Publishing House, we found ourselves writing a book! We feel so grateful to have the chance to share these Biblical truths, and we hope that Male and Female is a blessing to many. Our prayer for each of our readers is this:
May you stand firm in the faith, cherishing and finding joy in our Lord’s design for manhood and womanhood, living lives immersed in God’s Word, and resting secure in your identity as baptized children of God.
